The act of eating is a serious challenge for millions. Older adults are disproportionately affected, but dysphagia can become a challenge for anyone. It affects everyone differently and the speed at which symptoms progress can vary. Some people may only have a limited awareness of their dysphagia.

The signs and symptoms of dysphagia include difficulty controlling food or saliva in your mouth and difficulty swallowing or coughing.  There are many ways to treat dysphagia, including as swallowing therapy, dietary changes, and medication.  Together, we will design your support plan that will help you achieve your personal goals. We talk to you about what is important in your life and your personal needs and preferences.   Our team can provide a wide range of support including:

  • A morning visit to assist you to have a wash, dress and eat your breakfast
  • Help with managing your medicines;
  • Assistance to prepare nutritious meals suited to your needs and remain hydrated with suitably prepared drinks.
